Searching in archives

Full-text searches, index-field searches, and metadata searches are the types of searches that can be performed in the archives.

The most recent full-text and index-field searches performed can be repeated. The search criteria most recently entered are saved automatically. The search criteria do not need to be re-entered. The results of the search appears in a hit list.

Notice

Searches are not case-sensitive.

Type of search

Description

Full-text search

A full-text search finds documents by their index fields, attachments, metadata and notes. A full-text search is comparable to a standard search in internet search engines.

Index field search

An index-field search can be used to search for documents according to index-field values. An index-field search is comparable to an advanced search in internet search engines.

A pre-defined index-field search can also be made available. With a pre-defined index-field searh, you can search documents for the values of a pre-defined index field.

Metadata search

A metadata search can be used to find documents and attachments. For an overview of the available metadata, see An overview of document metadata

A metadata search specifically serves archive administrators and specially trained users.
