Configuring authorizations for tiles

A user can only use tiles that are assigned to a tile catalog or a tile group which the user is authorized to use.

The tile catalog or the tile group must be assigned to a role for this:

  • Assign a tile catalog to a role.

    When a tile is assigned this way, a user can find his or her role in the tile catalog and add the preferred tile to his or her start page.

    Example: You want a user to be able to view the inbox. Assign the tile catalog /wmd/xf_fiori (written in lower case) to the role of the user. The user will then be able to decide which of the tiles to add to his or her homepage.

  • Assign a tile group to a role.

    If a tile is assigned this way, all tiles that are included in the tile groups of his or her role will automatically be displayed on the user’s start page.

    Example: You want a user to be able to view the inbox. Assign the tile group /WMD/XF_FIORI_GRP to the role of the user. The user will see the tile right on the start page.

Since the default role is not contained in the package, a new role must be created. Roles are managed with the transaction PFCG and in SAP user administration with the transaction SU01.
