xSuite Interface Windows Prism 5.x
The fifth generation of the universal interface program xSuite Interface Windows Prism (hereafter abbreviated as "xSuite Interface") is a completely new product compared to the last major version, 4.x. This is mainly a result of the fact that the development platform previously used, the classic .NET Framework, has been deprecated by Microsoft. This change necessitates a move to the platform currently used, which was formerly known as .NET Core and now simply goes by .NET. Even with this move, the old platforms will be kept alive indefinitely with security updates. This means that there is no immediate need for existing installations to migrate to the new version.
This is especially important in light of the fact that the new version is not a normal update that provides all the old functionalities plus some enhancements and improvements. Rather, the new version is a new product that will initially be released with a reduced set of basic functionalities. These basic functionalities will be extended successively in future updates.
A complete recovery of all known functions should not be expected. Instead, the focus will be on issues that are relevant to practice today and in the future. Functions that are technically obsolete or were once created only for specific projects and interfaces to third-party systems will therefore not be re-implemented.
Due to the reduced scope of functions, the change of the development platform, and certain programming paradigms this, this version has been not been designed to provide backward compatibility, either in internal operation or in configuration. The basic purpose the program has not changed; therefore, its basic functionality is retained. However, many internal details have been redesigned, as has the structure of the configuration data. The new version should be seen as a stand-alone product requiring a completely new setup and configuration.
