Documents can be indexed both synchronously and asynchronously. With asynchronous indexing, indexing is carried out with a significant delay via a scheduler job. The Appsettings.json file can be adjusted to set queuing of synchronous indexing. This setting somewhat reduces the load on the Elasticsearch server; the delay caused to indexing, however, is only slight.
